Kishrei Halev Project

Julia Reisler

For all of you who don’t know what a Kishrei Halev project is, it is a mitzvah.  A mitzvah is a good deed usually done to help your community.  For my Kishrei Halev project I was having a hard time coming up with an idea since there were so many restrictions due to Covid.  It got me thinking, back in fourth grade my brother Zach and I created a project we called “Barx for the Environment” where we made dog toys out of old tee shirts that I cut up and braided and then tied at both ends.  I decided I would continue Barx for the Environment for my Kishrei Halev project.

We found an Earth Day environment fair in Bradley Beach that allowed me to participate and sell my dog toys since they were made out of recycled materials and kept old tee shirts out of landfills.  Dogs just loved them and it made their owners happy too!

I raised over $300 and decided to donate to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.  We visited the castle and presented them with a check for $324, and it makes me so proud knowing it was going to make a Make-a-Wish kid’s dream come true!
