Brotherhood Bonds

When the Ark was opened on Yom Kippur and the Torah scrolls were distributed to the current and past Presidents of our Temple our newest scroll was covered with our gift from the Brotherhood! A snapshot is above, if anyone would like to see it up close – please let me know!

This is going to be an exciting year for all of us and it has started out strong! George Egner, Michael Vernick, Steve Peckman, Charlie Haas, Dave McClelland, Peter Harris and I fed 32 HUNGRY (!!!) Teen Academy students (as well as one VERY HAPPY Rabbi) on Sunday the 19th and hopefully started them off on a good year! We will be responsible again on October 17th to provide the same service – I will be reaching out to you in the next week or so for volunteers to handle this very rewarding (food for thought? food for the soul? LOL!) service again to these terrific young ladies and young men!

Very shortly you will all be receiving an invitation to our first function for this year! We are going to have a screening of the movie “The Quarrel” by Eli Cohen (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105200/) From several sources it is a movie well worth seeing for its discussions of faith v. reason. We will be holding this on a Sunday morning in the near future (we just have to be sure the newly renovated Youth Lounge is complete and ready for us to take advantage of its capabilities!) so hopefully you all will have a chance to come in, have coffee and a bagel with us and after the movie we could have short discussion on the merits of this outstanding film

In November/December we will be looking to get together @ Monmouth University for a Hawks basketball game, more details on that to follow. In February we will be taking a road trip to see the new National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia (https://www.nmajh.org/buildourfuture.aspx) which promises to be an exciting trip! In April you can look for our Brotherhood Seder again with a date TBD. Our final outing of the year will be in May/June  (as the weather warms!) to see the Champion Lakewood Blue Claws!

Keep an eye on our blog here to stay in touch!

I will see you all soon!
Tom
